The Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center is located within the 500+ acre Discovery Park on Magnolia Hill. The address to the park entrance is: 3801 West Government Way. Once inside the park, follow the signs pointing toward Daybreak Star, which is 1.2 miles from the entrance.
* It’s easy to find... after you've been there once! But the first time may be slightly confusing, so give yourself a little extra time to get lost. We’ll have light refreshments before the ceremony, and there is Daybreak Star’s artwork from Pacific Northwest Tribes to enjoy before the wedding.Driving Directions to Daybreak Star, from Downtown Seattle:
(a map of the route is here.)
- Find your way North from Downtown to Elliott Ave. W. (Elliott is a North/South street that parallels Elliott Bay.)
- Just before Elliott veers right to become 15th Ave. W., take the exit on the RIGHT that says "Magnolia Bridge, Piers 86-91, & Amgen." (You will see large grain elevators by the water on your left about 0.3 mile before this exit.) Be sure to stay in the RIGHT-HAND lane marked "Magnolia Bridge & Cruise Passengers" as you head up the ramp onto the bridge.
- At the top of the bridge, stay in the LEFT LANE and continue straight on the arterial. The road veers to the right and comes to a stop sign at W. Howe St.
- Turn LEFT on W. Howe St.
- Just across a small bridge, follow the arterial as it turns left and becomes Magnolia Blvd. Stay on this road for about 2 miles until it ends at W. Emerson St. (You will see Puget Sound on your left as you follow the boulevard.)
- Turn RIGHT on W. Emerson St.
- At the first stop sign, turn LEFT onto 36th Ave. W. (a narrow neighborhood street). Follow this 1 block downhill to the stop sign at W. Government Way.
- Turn LEFT onto W. Government Way, which is the main entrance to Discovery Park.
- Follow the signs 1.2 miles from here to Daybreak Star. You will go up a hill, then take a slight right at the top and head downhill again (look for signs to the "North Parking Lot" and Daybreak Star). At the bottom of the hill you will see a large parking lot on the left. Take a right at the T and an immediate left into Daybreak Star, which is another half mile down this road.
If you are familiar with Seattle and are coming from the North across the Ballard Bridge, the simplest directions can be found here.
It is also possible to take the bus from Downtown to the Daybreak Star Center. Unfortunately the buses do not run late enough to make the return trip after the wedding, so you will have to carpool back with someone or contact Leah (by July 17) to get a ride with the van. The bus line is #33; a Metro "trip planner" can be found here.
- Bus #33's last stop is the North Parking Lot in Discovery Park. From there it is a half mile (about 15 min.) walk to Daybreak Star. From the bus stop, you can walk one of two ways:
1. (Longer) You can follow the signs to Daybreak Star, which have you turn RIGHT as you leave the bus stop and then immediately LEFT onto the road that loops back to Daybreak Star. Or...
2. (Shorter) You can turn LEFT as you leave the bus stop (the opposite direction of the sign to Daybreak Star), following the road that parallels the parking lot. Continue past the parking lot until you see a sign for the Daybreak Star Center and the "Great Circle." Take the upper path to the right and into the Great Circle, which will lead you to the back side of Daybreak Star.
